Travel Packing Tip: How to fit more in your suitcase & make room for souvenirs

A common problem for travelers: Not enough space in the suitcase to fit that one last souvenir or bottle of fine local wine.

How many suitcases do you have in your closet because at the end of nearly every trip you had to go out and buy an extra to fit everything?

I have solved that problem with compression sacs. Here’s how:

  • Store the compression sacs in the outside zipper pocket of your suitcase, ready to be used for the trip home.
  • When packing your clothes clothes (without the compression sacs), make sure the suitcase is not over-stuffed and the extension isn’t being used.
  • At the end of the trip, when repacking your luggage, put your clothes in the compression sacs, placing the bulkiest items first. Et voilàYou magically have more room in your suitcase than when you arrived! Who knew your suitcase could lose some extra bulk while on vacation? Be sure to leave out a few socks to pad that bottle of wine!

I’ve gone through so many compression sacs due to sharp objects damaging the air-proof bags. However, I still have my first compression sac which has out-traveled and out-lived all other brands . Eagle Creek compression sacs have worked best for me over the years in terms of travel performance and durability. And yes, Eagle Creek should be paying me to say this, but they’re not!

Compression sacs cost way less than buying a new suitcase and they can be reused trip after trip.

You can find these compression sacs on the Eagle Creek website or Amazon.
