The Puerta de Alcalá (Alcalá Gate) is one of the most symbolic icons of Madrid, Spain.
Located in the middle of Alcalá Street, this monument was built for King Carlos III by Italian architect Francesco Sabatini.
Since its inauguration in 1778, the Puerta de Alcalá has stood strong and has seen all types of historical chapters in the history of Spain.
For adventuresome travelers, it lies at a walking distance from mayor museums like Museo del Prado, parks like the impressive Parque del Retiro, and other historical landmarks.
