Kabuki Theater in Tokyo Closes Doors

The Kabukiza Theater, located in the district of Ginza in Tokyo, had its final kabuki performance last Friday as it will soon be demolished.
The news is sad for both locals and visitors since the 60-year-old theater was one of the most iconic buildings in today’s modern Tokyo. Having had the chance to see this fascinating form of drama at this one-of-a-kind venue, I can understand why the news is shocking for many.
However, kabuki shows will go on. There are plans to build a 29-story tower on site by 2013 with the bottom floors reserved for the new kabuki theater.

Travel Photo of the Day: Monterrey’s Saddle Mountain

The Saddle Mountain (or Cerro de la Silla) is the landmark of Monterrey
Monterrey, Mexico is one of the most ignored touristic destinations South of the Border. Grab any Mexico travel guide book and you’ll be lucky if you see more than half a page dedicated to Monterrey.
While it might not offer a beach paradise like Cancun, Monterrey’s tourism industry is growing due to its world-class art museums, fine restaurants, colorful shopping centers, and plenty of other things to do.
When it comes to outdoor activities, there are numerous options for biking, mountain hiking, cave exploration, and some of the best rock-climbing sites in the country.
Travel Photo of the Day: Fast Food Landmark

When I think of Kentucky there are 2 main things that come to mind almost inevitably. One is the always classy Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs, the most famous horse race around the world.
The second thing is also famous around the world and has to do with fast (not as in races, but as in food), and you probably already guessed after seeing the picture above. Yes, I’m talking about Kentucky Fried Chicken.
Believe it or not, one of the most visited landmarks in Kentucky is the Sander’s Café, which is the birthplace of Kentucky Fried Chicken. This is where Colonel Harland Sanders developed and perfected the finger lickin’ good secret recipe!
So, if you are traveling around the Bluegrass State, and trust me there are a lot of things to see there, visit this modern historical site. The Sander’s Café is located in Corbin, Kentucky, about 85 miles south of Lexington on I-75, and still operates as a KFC restaurant.
Travel Photo of the Day: Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree

I took this picture a few years ago with a regular point-and-shoot camera. I decided to show it today since last evening it was the lighting of the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree in New York City.
This is one of the most famous traditions in New York City and, since 1931, this annual event is also a huge boost for tourism. According to the Rockefeller spokesman, the Christmas Tree helps bring an extra 400,000 visitors to the center every day.
And let me tell you, visiting New York City during the holidays is an experience you should live at least once in your life. The Christmas Tree will be lit up until January 7, 2010.
